The Reading Room Difference
We know that when a child struggles with reading, the answer isn’t simply more practice—it’s the right approach. Every child learns differently. The Reading Room meets each student where they are; with personalized instruction, specialized expertise and proven methods designed to help them make progress, build confidence, overcome challenges, make meaningful progress and discover what they’re capable of.
STEP UP FOR STUDENTS
Free Tutoring! Step Up for Students offers several scholarships that can be used for tutoring. Homeschool families primarily use the Personalized Education Program (PEP) and the Unique Abilities Scholarship (FES-UA). While private school students can use the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship (FTC) or the Florida Empowerment Scholarship for Educational Options (FES-EO) for tutoring if they have monies left over in their accounts after paying private school tuition. The Reading Room accepts all these scholarships and will invoice Step Up directly for the payment so the parents will have no out of pocket expenses. Additionally, we can provide the tutoring sessions online via Zoom, if necessary.

WELCOME TO THE READING ROOM
The Reading Room is a professional tutoring service using the latest in individualized testing techniques to create a customized reading program for your child or teen. The professional tutoring service Plantation Florida has become a backbone of the city’s education community. We have been in business since 2018, helping many families achieve their educational goals. Our tutors are all highly trained reading professionals who use a hands-on approach to teaching. All tutors have their credentials verified and are specially trained in our teaching methods.
What We Do
Tutoring services are meant to help students boost their confidence in particular subjects and increase their chances of passing standardized tests. Our goal is to improve the student’s knowledge and proficiency in those subjects. The Reading Room is a tutoring service that specializes in helping many different types of students to improve their reading skills.
Tutoring Services
We provide several tutoring services to aid in the growth and development of your student. You may resonate with one particular style of tutoring or with one of our many packages we offer here at The Reading Room!
1:1 Tutoring Services
Our 1:1 tutoring services are what many think of as the classic tutoring style. Our 1:1 tutoring sessions give your student sole, undivided attention and allows for the most customization for the learner. With these session formats being one student with one expert Reading Room tutor, the student has the ability to control the pace and style of learning. These sessions also provide a safe space for students to develop confidence and ask questions freely without the intimidation of judgement. We find that 1:1 tutoring sessions are best suited for learners who are significantly falling behind due to learning gaps, experience chronic academic anxiety or need specialized preparation and instruction.
Group Sessions
Our group tutoring sessions involve small groups of students working together with one expert Reading Room tutor. We love group sessions because of their close relationship with a traditional classroom environment without all of the pressure that comes along with larger groups; they also provide a more focused attention and closer relationship between the student and tutor. Group sessions provide students the opportunity to learn and grow in a collaborative, discussion-based environment that encourages teamwork. Our group sessions still provide individualized learning opportunities, but we find that the peer interaction creates a positive momentum for learning, accountability and decreases the stigma around academic challenges —not to mention the development of essential social skills. Some of our group classes have been for Dyslexic readers, homeschool students, and for SAT/HSPT preparation.
Tutoring Camps
Our tutoring camps are similar to the group sessions but provide a short-term, intensive week-long program to deep dive on specific topics and goals. Our tutoring camps are 5 days long and last 3-4 hours per day. More than just an intensive focus on learning, our tutoring camps provide continuous learning opportunities for students during school breaks to keep them engaged and further deepening connection with fun and learning.
Specialized Tutoring
Our tutoring service Plantation Florida specializes in working with Dyslexic students. We use structured literacy with these students as taught by the University of Florida Literacy Institute (UFLI). The owner, Dr. Cynthia Januszka, has a certificate in Dyslexia Education from UFLI. In addition to Dyslexic students we also work with ADHD students, as our hands on, high interest materials keeps these students engaged and wanting more. It also helps that we bring either a snack or small reward for each session to connect to student motivation.
Reading Room Tutoring Methods Work Great for Students With ADHD, Dyslexia & Other Learning Disabilities
Each of us is unique and with that means we each understand and retain information in different ways and at different levels. This is something that the traditional classroom setting doesn’t account for. Students who have ADHD, dyslexia or other learning differences often have difficulty finding the personalized learning and instruction they need to succeed. This often leads to what may look on paper as learning deficiencies or delays, but all they really need is a tutoring service Plantation Florida and surrounding cities that understands these special abilities and how to harness them.
While we have our own curriculum, we are open and flexible to meet the family’s needs. Occasionally parents request that we work with their child to improve in a particular area, typically to prepare them for an upcoming test. We Meet You Where You Are
Yes, we are a tutoring service Plantation Florida based, but we serve a much larger population. Parents love our tutoring services because it has in person tutoring in multiple locations (Plantation, Sunrise, Davie and Cooper City). The tutoring sessions can be held in your child’s public school as the Reading Room is an approved vendor for Broward County public schools. Additionally, we have permission from two private schools, St. Gregory Catholic School and Montessori Academy of Broward County, to hold sessions on their campuses. Other tutoring sessions can be held in local public libraries, allowing the student to walk around and find books that interest them. Sessions are also held at our own classroom site. For those students who cannot make it to a physical location, we are able to offer online sessions via the Zoom meeting application.
It is our goal, as one of the best tutoring service Plantation Florida businesses, to help struggling readers become strong readers and gain the confidence and capability that they need to succeed in life.
